Introduction:
My name is Daniel Juarbe. I have just recently graduated Kingsborough Early College Secondary School, so I graduated with both my high school diploma and my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Kingsborough Community College. I am an avid sports fan of the New York Knicks, Mets and Giants. I am hoping to become a sports commentator. I love talking about sports with anyone that will give me the time. I like to play basketball, baseball and football but prefer to talk about it. My major is Communication and minor radio and television. I am hoping these courses will help me to get more comfortable with speaking in front of people. My weekly blog will be about the highlights in sports and my opinion. I hope that you enjoy it and it helps you to understand why sports is relevant to our society, now more than ever.
Communication in sports is important when it comes to teamwork. In order for the team to reach their goal, they need to communicate with each other. In order for society to understand the logistics of sports people need to talk about it and explain what is going on while they are playing. I am hoping to be one of those individuals that have the opportunity to share with you the importance of understanding sports and why everyone should be involved with watching sports.
Like Aristotle stated that it all depends on the receiver and how they received the message?
“For Aristotle it was the ‘to whom” that determined if communication occurred and how effective it was. Aristotle, in his study of “who says what, through what channels, to whom, and what will be the results’ focused on persuasion and its effect on the audience. Aristotle thought is was extremely important to focus on the audience in communication exchanges.” (chapter 1)
The audience is who will determined if the message was received and how effective it was. This is why it is so important to make sure you communicate clearly and it has to be engaging for the audience to want to listen to the message.
